Summertime means wearing shoes as little as possible. From the beach to the lake and even at the outdoor BBQ, doesn’t it just feel good to let your feet breathe a bit? One prerequisite is a pedicure. Guys, we aren’t kidding, and neither are the ladies – no T-Rex toes please. Today there are more flip-flop options than ever from ones that provide arch support to hiking friendly styles.

We have rounded up our favorites for the summer of '24.

What Makes for Great Flip Flops

  • Arch support. Since sandals are so loose on the foot, you need some support so you don't get stiff feet. Also, most of us can’t wear flip flops all year round so some support will help prep your foot for getting back into regular shoes

  • Comfort. We have tried out some really uncomfortable (and expensive) flip flops. Make sure whatever style and brand you buy works for your foot.

  • Waterproof. While we certainly recommend some great leather sandals here, you definitely want a pair that are great for wading in the ocean, washing the car and hanging on the boat, that won’t get moldy

  • Traction. The last thing you want to happen is to slip at the pool and spend the rest of the summer on crutches. If the flip-flop doesn't have good traction but you still love the look, take them to a cobbler to have a thin sole added to the bottom.

Hari Mari Pier Leather Sandal

Simple, elegant, and supremely comfortable, the Hari Mari Pier Leather Sandal is a great option for summer fun, easy to dress up or dress down. Made from an ultra-soft nubuck leather, these sandals are easy to wear all day, even around the water, without even a hint of discomfort.

LUKA Dune Sandal

With premium materials like Alfamex Roughout leather in the upper and sturdy die-cut EVA in the midsole, these flip flops strike the perfect balance between durability and comfort. The minimalist design makes them very versatile, while the gum rubber outsole wears like fine leather, getting darker and more refined with time.

Rainbow Single Layer Premium Leather Flip Flop

Rainbow Single Layer Premium Leather Flip Flop

Hemp is a strong and durable plant, so it’s no wonder Rainbow uses the material for the top sole of this sandal. The nylon fish pattern on the strap gives this one a little more character than your basic flop. Rainbow has been going strong since 1974 and today they make over 2,000,000 sandals a year. Talk about a classic.
